The beautiful and brilliant Dr. Jacqueline Shan, the scientific brain behind one of Canada’s biggest health and wellness brands Cold-FX, takes time out of a very busy schedule at her company CV Technologies Inc. in Edmonton, Alberta, to talk about her cultural roots and how they led her to Canada.

Malhotra, who immigrated from India to Canada 33 years ago, set up her practice in Saskatchewan, where she’s focused her efforts on helping others. Malhotra has been a dedicated advocate for women’s health issues, especially among the First Nations of northern Saskatchewan, and it’s this work that earned her the unofficial title of “Angel of the North” by a First Nations chief.

Chilean-born, Winnipeg-raised Héctor Vergara worked his first World Cup game as assistant referee at the 2002 Korea/Japan joint tournament. He also was a “ref” at the 2006 Germany tournament. His first game officiating in South Africa this summer will tie him for most World Cup appearances as an assistant referee.

Sudarshan Gautam, a Nepal-born Calgary resident, drives a car and does mountaineering like many of us. No big deal. Except that he has no arms. Now he has set sight to scale Mount Everest in 2012 and is already preparing for that.
